Emilio Della Torre appointed Acimga’s vice president
Emilio Della Torre, CEO of Simec Group, has been appointed vice president of Acimga, the Italian association representing manufacturers of printing, converting and packaging machines. In line with the articles of the statute, Della Torre was selected by President Aldo Peretti (Uteco Group) among the newly elected board members in the last General Assembly, held last June 30th, which saw the election, in addition to Emilio Della Torre, of Saverio Lombardini (Ims Technologies), Andrea Dallavalle (Koenig & Bauer) and Giorgio Petratto (Petratto).

Koenig & Bauer stands by the drupa trade fair

OPTIMA has developed a sustainable capsule system
Working together with the companies Wipf and säntis packaging, Optima has developed a completely recyclable capsule system. It features a single-material capsule with recyclable lid film and a compatible packaging system. This development means that the partner companies are promoting a sustainable recycling economy from production and use, through to recycling of the packaging.

HERMA curbs greenhouse gas emissions
The self-adhesive solutions specialist HERMA is now producing about 10,000 tonnes less CO2 a year. In the course of commissioning its two new plants for labelling machines and self-adhesive materials in Filderstadt (Germany), in early 2019 and mid-2020 respectively, the company has completed its transition to green power. A certificate has been issued verifying that, since the start of 2019, the utility E.ON Energie Deutschland has been offsetting HERMA’s actual electricity consumption by feeding into the public supply network an equivalent amount of power generated from renewable sources.

Mondi partners with meat producer Hütthaler to create new fully recyclable plastic packaging
Mondi, has partnered with Austrian meat producer Hütthaler to produce a fully recyclable thermoforming film made from a mono-material for their meat and sausage products. The film is made of a mono-material solution that can be fully recycled and provides a barrier to protect the food and extend its shelf life. The independent cyclos-HTP Institute for Recyclability and Product Responsibility has awarded this film the highest classification "AAA" for recyclability.

First Virtual EXPO from Windmöller & Hölscher a Success

On June 24 & 25, 2020, machine manufacturer Windmöller & Hölscher held its first Virtual EXPO to present technologies and products initially planned for industry mega shows – Interpack and Drupa – that have been postponed until spring 2021.

PRINT4ALL changes the date and will be held from 3 to 6 May 2022
The postponement was announced following after the upheaval of the international trade fair calendar caused by the coronavirus emergency.They are restarting from the recently concluded Print4All Conference and looking at the challenges of a dynamic, constantly evolving industry.

Koening & Bauer shareholders approve all resolutions

KHS launches ecofriendly can packaging system
The KHS Group has added a further environmentally-friendly system to its portfolio. With its tried-and-tested Innopack Kisters tray packers the systems supplier now enables cans of food and beverage to be wrapped in paper. The new technology provides an alternative to shrink film or wrap-around cartons. Regarding stability the results are the same yet compared to cardboard costs are lower as less energy and fewer materials are used. With a few minor adjustments existing machines can also be converted to the new setup.
