Over 2,200 life sciences supply chain professionals gathered in Lyon from 8 – 10th April for LogiPharma 2025, the world’s leading conference dedicated to supply chain and logistics in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech sectors.
This year’s event was the largest in LogiPharma history, with 180 sponsors, 150 exhibitors, and an agenda packed with strategic announcements, product launches and expert panels tackling the most pressing challenges and opportunities in global healthcare logistics.
One of the standout announcements at the event came from DB Schenker, which signed a partnership agreement with TOWT, a leader in sail-powered cargo shipping. The collaboration introduces a decarbonised shipping solution for healthcare products, using cargo sailboats emitting less than 1g of CO₂ per tonne-kilometre. Routes will include Le Havre to Guadeloupe, Brazil, and New York, with operations beginning as early as July 2025. Each vessel, capable of carrying 1,100 tonnes, is equipped with specialised environmental controls to ensure the safe transport of non-heat-sensitive medical goods.
Cold Chain Technologies debuted its CCT Tower Elite – a reusable, universal pallet shipper designed for large-volume, temperature-controlled consignments. The 1600-litre solution supports both Euro and US pallets and was introduced during a private customer preview before being officially launched at the show. With its lightweight design and high capacity, the CCT Tower Elite aims to reshape global temperature-sensitive shipping efficiency.
DHL Group also made headlines by announcing its acquisition of CryoPDP, a move that strengthens DHL’s position in health logistics and expands its capabilities in temperature-controlled transport across the life sciences sector.
“LogiPharma remains the go-to platform for the life sciences supply chain community to spotlight real innovation,” said Jake Brown, Sponsorship Director at LogiPharma. “This year, we’ve seen a clear shift - sustainability and AI aren’t just themes, they’re priorities. It’s been exciting to witness so many major announcements and partnerships unfold right here on the show floor.”
Sustainability remained a core focus throughout the show. UK-based packaging provider Woolcool highlighted its natural wool-based insulation technology, developed specifically for pharma and food cold chain applications.
Likewise, PluumoPlus, a first-time exhibitor, drew strong interest with its biodegradable thermal packaging made from recycled feathers - a high-performance, plastic-free alternative to EPS foam. Its unique design offers lower thermal conductivity and improved insulation while helping reduce landfill waste.
On stage, executives from pharma giants including Sanofi, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Abbott, GSK, Merck & Co., Eli Lilly, Bristol Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Novartis, and Gilead Sciences addressed global supply chain strategy through the lenses of digitalisation, AI, labour force dynamics, and risk mitigation.
LogiPharma’s Conference Director, Will Robinson, commented: "This year’s speaker line-up brought together some of the most influential minds in pharma logistics. Their insight into emerging technologies and the human side of supply chain leadership reflected just how far - and how fast - the industry is evolving. The energy and momentum throughout the event were incredible.”
LogiPharma now sets its sights on Vienna, where the 2026 edition will be hosted at the Austria Centre. With upgraded branding, premium networking zones, and new experiential features - including a sponsored HIIT class and car simulator - the next chapter promises to build on the momentum of 2025 and deliver even greater value for attendees.
